In the latest developments, Grand Seiko has released two new watches exclusive to Europe. These watches are the SBGW321 Nishikigoi and the SBGY040 Chisen Teien. The natural beauty of Japan leaves much room for Grand Seiko to take inspiration from and this time around, both these new models draw inspiration from Japanese garden ponds.
The SBGW321 subtly depicts the iridescent koi fish known as Nishikigoi that’s often found in Japanese ponds. Sized at 36.5mm x 11.6mm in a stainless steel case, the vivid red dial in a radial spiral pattern represents the shimmering scales of Nishikigoi. Dial has silver color applied markers while the seconds hand and the logo have a gold tone.
The manually wound Calibre 9S64 offers a 72 hour power reserve and +5/-3 seconds per day accuracy. The watch is paired with a black crocodile leather strap and is limited to 300 pieces. Availability starts from November 1, 2024, exclusively in Europe at a price of EUR 6,100.

The SBGY040 is a more luxurious take, it’s inspired by Chisen Teien, i.e the Japanese pond gardens. The 38.5mm x 10.2mm 18k rose gold case is paired with a blue Wagara pattern dial that evokes the imagery of a rippling surface of a pond. The dial’s waves shift dynamically in the light that creates an alluring effect.
Known for its smooth sweep of the seconds hand, Chisen Teien is driven by the manually wound Spring Drive Calibre 9R31, offering an accuracy of ±1 second per day and a 72 hour power reserve. The SBGY040 is limited to just 20 pieces and priced at EUR 31,100. Available exclusively in select European boutiques.
