Jaeger-LeCoultre has expanded its popular Reverso Tribute line with new Monoface, Tourbillon and Small Seconds models. The collection was launched in 2016 to mark eighty-five years of the Reverso, and is characterised by its desire to modernise without going too off-piste from the original’s aesthetics.
The new Reverso Tribute Monoface is in a new smaller size. At 40.1mm x 24.4mm and 7.56mm thick, it is significantly smaller than the previous models (45.6mm x 27.4mm x 8.51mm) and thus closer in dimensions to the original Reverso, which didn’t have this modern ‘Monoface’ designation.
In a stainless steel case with water resistance of 30m, there is the choice of two dials – silver opaline or blue sunray lacquer. Powering it is the manually wound Calibre 822 which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
The Reverso Tribute Monoface comes on either a golden-tan calfskin with contrasting smooth and saffiano finishes for the silver dial variant, or blue calf strap with contrasting smooth and saffiano finishing for the blue dial model, with an Australian RRP of $14,300.
Next is the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds which comes in an 18k pink gold case measuring 47mm x 28.3mm with a thickness of 9.6mm and water resistance of 30m.
Its functions are hours, minutes and a small seconds on the front dial, and a second time zone and 24-hour indicator on the reverse dial. The second time zone is adjusted by a small slider set into the top case-band and not visible until the case is released from the cradle to be flipped over. The front dial is a dark blue and lacquered, with sunray finishing. The back dial is silver and also has a sunray finishing. Unlike the front dial, the second dial features double index markers.
Powering the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small seconds is the manually-wound Calibre 854, Beating at 21,600 VPH, it has a power reserve of 42 hours.
It comes on a blue calf strap on a pink gold pin buckle and has an Australian RRP of $41,100.
Lastly, we have the new Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon in Steel which, as the name indicates, brings steel to the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon model, which is also available in 18k pink gold. The tourbillon is visible on both dials. Functionally, the hours and minutes are on the front dial, and on the second dial is the second time zone and a day/ night indicator.
This new variant’s case is 45.5mm x 27.4mm with a thickness of 9.15mm and water resistance of 30m. The front dial is grey with sunray effect and the partially open-worked back dial is silver sunray with Clous de Paris guilloché.
Powering it is the manually-wound Caibre 847 which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is marked by the absence of the upper bridge that normally supports a tourbillon, replacing the outer tourbillon cage with a peripheral ball-bearing system, and using the patented S-shaped hairspring so that the spring and balance wheel could be fixed at the centre of the tourbillon.
You get two straps with the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon Steel – a grey calf Fagliano strap, and a black alligator strap, with a stainless steel folding buckle, and it is POA.
