Today Tudor launched the Pelagos FXD GMT.
This is not surprising considering Tudor already makes the Pelagos FXD Ref. M25707B/24-0001 in collaboration with Marine Nationale, which comes in a 42 mm titanium case with a blue dial and blue straps. That watch was announced back in 2021 and is still in the current catalog.
Professional Watches predicted a Pelagos GMT earlier in the year, and no such watch arrived at Watches & Wonders 2024 in the Spring, however, that changed today. The Rolex GMT-Master II is one of the hottest sellers in the Rolex collection so seeing another Tudor GMT, after receiving the smaller Black Bay 58 GMT in April of this year, seems like a logical progression.
The new Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT “Marine Nationale” is available in a 42 mm x 12.7 mm grade 2 brushed titanium case (52 mm lug-to-lug), with a 22 mm lug width, fixed strap bars, and a non-tapered military green fabric strap with a full-color, embroidered Marine National anchor logo on the large removable fabric keeper.
Instead of the blue theme typically seen on Marine Nationale models — or the two-tone bezels that are often used on GMT watches to distinguish night and day — Tudor went with a matte black ceramic 24-hour insert for the bi-directional rotating titanium bezel.
The Pelagos FXD GMT has a matte black dial as well. The lume is off-white and glows blue. The watch displays hours (jumping set function), minutes, center seconds, date, 24-hour GMT (flyer).
“PELAGOS GMT” is printed on the dial in bright orange lacquer that matches the orange lacquer arrow-shaped 24-hour GMT hand that rotates once every 24 hours and is used to show reference time (home time). The standard Snowflake-shaped hour hand rotates the dial once every 12 hours and displays the local time. Using the 24-hour bezel, a third time zone can be displayed, at a glance. Considered a “flyer” GMT, the Pelagos FXD GMT main (local) 12-hour hand can be set independently of the minutes and seconds. The 12-hour hand also jumps, to make setting the local time even faster.
The Pelagos FXD GMT (Ref. M2542g247NU-0002) features a flat sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown with an embossed Tudor shield emblem, a solid screw-in titanium caseback engraved with the Marine Nationale anchor, and is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters. The FXD GMT is powered by an in-house made 4Hz, 28-jewel, Metas-certified Master Chronometer automatic movement, caliber MT5652-U with 65 hours of power reserve, that measures 31.8 mm x 7.5 mm.
The retail price is $4,625. Learn more at Tudor.
