I have added a case style field to the “The CITIZEN” database to help group and identify models that share the case case design. The case style is a general design and does not guarantee that all models share the exact same case, for example a case may be available in slightly different dimensions but have the same general style. The same style case may have bracelets and straps and be produced in different materials.
Here is a guide to the twenty two different case styles I have classified.
M01 – This was the style of the original The CITIZEN model, the CTZ57-0521, released in 1995. It has a distinctive shaped lug with angles. It has a simple round bezel that is provided in both steel and gold in a two tone variant.
M02 – The second case style was introduced with the CTS57-0651 in 2001. This has an integrated bracelet and a round slab sided mid-case. The lugs are very angular with an outer bevel that follows down through the bracelet. It has a round bezel that is smaller than the mid-case leaving a round step when viewed from the top. The crown is protected by crown guards on the right side. This case pairs with the L02 case style.
M03 – This case style has a flowing case edge with an edge bevel that continues to the lug tip. It has a round bezel and the crown is slightly sunk into the mid case. This case is usually associated with a bracelet featuring bezels on many of the link sections but it was also available with a strap. This case design was introduced in 2005 with the CTQ57-0951 and pairs with the L04 case style.
M04 – Introduced in 2006 with the CTQ57-1021, the lugs start relatively short and then have a longer angled section with a beveled outer edge. The crown guards have a flat top surface that is level with the mid-case. The bezel is slightly smaller than the mid-case creating a small stepped outer edge. The design pairs with the L05 case style.
